Injection
technique for vermillion border
- Before injecting grasp the vermillion border between your thumb and
4 fingers, 10-15° angle to the skin's surface, the material usually
tracks along the vermillion border in a natural tunnel or canal that
exists in this area; you are in the correct canal, if you can see the
material tracking forward of the needle. If the canal is not found with
the first injection, you may need to reinsert the needle.

- Do not force the material when injecting into the vermillion border
as it may interrupt the vascular flow.
- Pouting the lips is best achieved by inserting the needle along the
length of the vermillion border and then injecting while pulling the
needle slowly backwards.
- Inject with firm and constant pressure to insure the material will
flow smoothly into the treated area.
- Another option is to use the serial puncture technique; CLARIVISC®
is injected at 45° by using gentle, more frequent and shorter
injections.
- After injecting, sculpt the material by pinching gently along the
vermillion border.
